The fear continued to grow, there was nothing she could do. Minutes passed, then hours, and the silence persisted. Where was he? Did something happen? A million possibilities raced through her mind, each second feeling like an eternity. Did he fix it? Did he fail? Did they fire him? Is he okay? Are they okay? She couldn't bear it any more. Another one bites the dust, he told himself. It had been a long week already, and today was really taking the piss. Everything had fallen apart, and everyone had run crying to him. Again. So much for spending his weekend hanging out with her. Only a few more fires left to fight, but his body was resisting.
